1. The rights you have
Under the Jamaica Data Protection Act 2020 you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to and receive a portable copy of your personal data, and to withdraw any consent you gave. Maximinds Ltd is the data controller. You do not need an account to read this, and you can exercise any of these below or by contacting us.
2. Access and portability
Ask for a copy of what we hold, your profile, your Passport and its verification outcomes, in a portable format. Remember that we keep outcomes, not the documents: your payslips and bank statements are erased automatically after review, and a sealed copy of your identity records is kept securely for 12 months for fraud prevention, then deleted.
3. Correct, restrict or object
Fix anything wrong, ask us to pause a use while a dispute is resolved, or object to a particular use. In most cases you can also withdraw a consent you gave. Withdrawing a consent a check depends on may mean we can no longer produce that verification, but it never affects your right to the rest of your data.
4. Delete your account
Erase your data across Attesta. To keep our audit trail honest and meet legal obligations, a small set of records is anonymised rather than deleted (for example fraud-case and audit logs, with identifying details removed), and your selfie is erased on its bounded retention clock. We tell you what is removed and what is anonymised.
5. A human, on any automated result
Some checks are assisted by automation. You can object to a solely-automated decision and ask for a human review: a trained person re-checks any result you dispute before it stands.
6. Timing, identity and complaints
We confirm it is really you before acting on a request, and we aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner (Jamaica), though we would rather put it right first.
